Yale Queer Committee Boycotts Club for Hosting Allegedly Homophobic Artists
Yale’s Queer Political Action Committee plans to urge students to sign a petition (they’ve set a goal of 1,000 student signatures) and pledge to stop attending Toad’s Place, a nightclub owned by Brian Phelps, as long as the club continues to invite homophobic artists to perform at it’s venue. Davon Collins, a member of Queer Political Action Committee, says it’s decisions like the one to host performers like Buju Banton (whose controversial lyrics are seen by many as homophobic) that have the group angry with Phelps.
Phelps denies that his establishment is accepting of any form of hate and commented “We’re not gay-bashers. We’re not promoting anything.”
