Upcoming NBC Series ‘The Book of Daniel’ Upsets the American Family Association
The American Family Association wants NBC affiliates to refuse to air upcoming series The Book of Daniel.
The AFA said contrary to the show being a “serious drama about Christian people and Christian faith,” the main character, Daniel Webster, “is a drug-addicted Episcopal priest whose wife depends heavily on her midday martinis.”
AFA continues that “the Webster family is rounded out by a 23-year-old homosexual Republican son, a 16-year-old daughter who is a drug dealer, and a 16-year-old adopted son who is having sex with the bishop’s daughter. And at the office, his lesbian is sleeping with his sister-in-law.”
The AFA said it “would be beneficial to all if NBC showed a little more respect for Christians who believe in the Bible,” and the AFA plans to “monitor” advertisers who “underwrite this program.”
The AFA has also protested ABC’s Ellen.
Hey, I’ve seen the previews for this show and they include scenes of the main character talking to Jesus. Therefore, since the AFA seems to also have a direct line to the Diety, shouldn’t they be supportive of the show?
Also, I’m going to watch the show just to find out how I can get my own lesbian at my office, too.
I like that idea! Saw a bumper sticker the other day that said, “I have no problem with Jesus; it’s his fan club that pisses me off!”
I think they should just threaten to boycott Jesus unless he gives up his part in the show.
Unfortunatly I won’t be watching NBCs “The Book of Daniel†because I will be out partying Friday night, getting drunk and maybe popping a pain-killer with my fellow gay friends. I wonder if the AFA is aware of the real world or if they only protest tv shows about it??? (P.S. I will be TIVOing it to watch Sunday morning!)
