There You Have It
In response to my email regarding the World’s Best Gay Urban Blog category of the The Urbs: 2005 Urban Blogging Awards, I was directed to this post over at Gridskipper where I found the following:
Why isn’t there an African American blog category, a Latino blog category, a lesbian blog category, or a transgender blog category?
Because the number of categories was already getting unwieldy. And I also hate women and minorities. Really, if I could keep adding categories, I would. I do fully support the idea of other contests with more and different categories, for blogs or otherwise, and will be happy to link to same.
As Jen pointed out in an email, there was no reason to add another category. A GLBTQ category would have been a category all queer bloggers could have fit in.
Ah, what a lovely display of misogyny to kick off my day.
At least he’s honest enough to admit it – most of them just shuffle and attempt the “duh” defense.
Ok, I’ll put my money where my mouth is – how about a contest? I’ll kick in $100 plus the hosting and technical details if anyone is interested in pulling it together.
He could have saved confusion simply by calling it Best Gay Male Urban Blog , if that’s what he wanted anyway. Well we don’t need his best blog thing anyway!
