Josh Tyler at Cinema Blend comments that “the movie industry is doing a pretty good job of making lesbians look like heartless, brutal, selfish, conniving bitches.” He’s speaking specifically about last year’s Imagine Me and You and this year’s Gray Matters (in theaters February 23rd).Read “Everything On Heather Graham’s Lesbian Movie” here.

With all due respect, I call major bullshit on the reviewer’s take on mean-spirited movie lesbians. No one bats an eye if a guy steals a girl from another guy. That’s comedy! That’s romantic! That’s not heartless, brutal, selfish or conniving lesbian bitches. Do I wish there were better lesbian movies, of course. Lord knows we’ve got plenty of terrible ones. But I heartily disagree with his reasoning. It’s got me so riled up I blogged about it. Serpent, tail, and so it goes.

As fluffy as they may be, there are so few light-hearted (or otherwise) lesbian films that and i’ll admit it, I’ve watched/will watch ’em both. Mind you, if Hollywood was going to bite the brit flick so terribly, they could have at least found some convincing lead actresses… at least the rest of the cast will be entertaining.
