More on The Urbs’ World’s Best Gay Urban Blog Category
I have sent the following email, regarding the World’s Best Gay Urban Blog category of the The Urbs: 2005 Urban Blogging Awards, to Gridskipper.
I notice that none of the finalists in the World’s Best Gay Urban Blog category of The Urbs: 2005 Urban Blogging Awards are blogs by females.
In your Call for Nominations post, where the awards categories were explained, there was no GLBTQ category listed and I did not see an explanation of the World’s Best Gay Urban Blog category in later posts when it appeared. I am wondering if there is no category for gay/queer female bloggers because there were no nominations for such a category. If there were no nominations for blogs by gay/queer female bloggers, I wonder if that was because people felt GLBTQ blogs by female bloggers do not fit in a “gay” (since the term gay is often seen to mean “homosexual male”) category and therefore did not nominate blogs by female bloggers for the World’s Best Gay Urban Blog Award.
If this issue has already been addressed, please point to where I can learn more about the definition of the World’s Best Gay Urban Blog category.

That’s terrible! I wonder if they even noticed that they had no women.
