The Flaming Film Festival. As soon as I heard the title, I knew I would have to poke my nose in it. Here’s what I found:

The Flaming Film Festival was founded by filmmaker Lisa Ganser as an effort to build community and bring movies and queer culture that was lacking in the Twin Cities. She was inspired by festivals and venues such as Ed Varga’s Homocore Minneapolis, Eleanor Savage’s Vulva Riot and out of town fests such as Chicago Underground and Mix Brasil: Festival of Sexual Diversity. The festival happens every year, and May 25th – 31st 2006 is the sixth and is packed with tons of amazing movies. F3 is collectively run, and focuses on facets of queer culture that are underrepresented in mainstream media. We are a political, smart, sometimes low brow (but always witty), grassroots, fun, experimental festival that manages to create miracles with almost no money. We’ve included workshops, youth screenings, open reels, dialogues and serve as a catalyst to create social change among people through the media arts.

So, whatever, I’m a bit early for a festival that runs every May. But aren’t you glad I told you about it? Sheesh. Don’t get all touchy.
