Hillary Defends Gay Rights
Hillary Clinton may be behind Barrack Obama in the polls but she is still helping the underdogs of society. While its cool lately to bash gays Hillary is taking a huge step in the right direction. Today a newspaper interview showed that she supports Gays and Lesbians more than ever.
Clinton said she opposes a measure that would ban gay marriage in Pennsylvania and proposed a few other great ideas:
• Eliminate her husband’s policy of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” that prevents gays from serving openly in the military. Asked if she could do so by a signing order connected to a military appropriations bill, Clinton said she didn’t think that is possible but she would look into it and do it if it were legal.
• Be “very strongly outspoken” against foreign governments that execute gays and use financial assistance and other leverage to prevent the killings. (read our article on dangerous gay travel destinations regarding this)
• Support federal domestic partner legislation to extend rights to all same-sex couples.
• Support services for gay youth, including guidance for schools about the discrimination they face.
• Continue to support gay pride celebrations, to the extent that security would allow. “I don’t think the Secret Service let Bill walk in a parade when he became president,” Hillary said.
She also recently spoke on AIDS/HIV Issues. I love Hillary and hope she gets the Democratic nomination for president. I am sad that MoveOn.org had to support Obama in such an early state of the election. They clearly do not represent millions of progressive voters who are for Hillary.
Obama and McCain declined the interview with the Philadelphia Gay News.
Hillary Clinton may support gay rights and that’s fine. But don’t you really think it’s time to take the country in a different direction?
Obama is the man.
A female president is a new direction along with many changes that Hillary can come through with. I think Obama is great but he is all talk. Kind of like that first boyfriend to get you in bed by his smooth talking… smooth talking is not going to get us through this recession, war, and social dilemma we face today.
Rock on. I’m quite sad that Hillary doesn’t appear to be a likely winner, because she’s been my choice for President since way before she was running. I wasn’t here in Iowa to caucus for her, and I wish I had had the opportunity. I’m glad you’re emphasising the foreign governments bit. I’m working on an article now for a law journal on human rights and orientation-based discrimination and the state of affairs really is appalling. Of course, the US is not a leader on this issue, and I strongly believe we should be.
obama supports repeal of DOMA, hillary does not.

I am devastated that Hillary is not going to be nominted as a president candidate towarsds the fukn horrible mccain. I think that the worl dhas to be more opened to people who are different adn should be more empathetic to what “different” people gp through. we differnet people are good people and never mean any harm to others based onn religion or anything else of such matter. I am gay. I have been gay since I figured i was when i was a kid about 10 years old. It was damn hard for me to accept who I was but I had to definately have come to terms with it sooner or later. I grew up in a “normal family” but still I am gay. I am not the typical gay you see that is flambouyant but im a avery masculine looking and acting gay person. This is me and here I am . That’s it .
