The Yacoubian Building
Homosexuality is a serious offense in Egypt. Director Marwan Hamid will make history with the release of his new film which covers the topic of homosexuality alongside others including drugs, politics and infidelity.

From WebIndia123.com:

The Yacoubian Building is based on a novel of the same name and depicts life in Cairo through the lives of a hashish-smoking doorman, a student-turned-prostitute, a corrupt imam, an ambitious politician and one building resident who has a boyfriend who is a married policeman.

The building resident with the married boyfriend is the gay character:

Hatim, one of the residents, has a boyfriend who is a married policeman. In Egypt homosexuality is a serious offence.

“This is what could get us into trouble,” said Mr Hamid. “We present Hatim as a normal human being and this will lead to a lot of attacks when the movie comes out.”

The Yacoubian Building is due out in January.
