Another Gay Movie?
I just read about this movie here. Richard Hatch makes an appearance, apparently without the black censor bar.
No cliché is left untouched. Nico (Jonah Blechman) struggles with the decision about whether to come out to his mother, even though he dresses like Boy George and does spontaneous Liza Minnelli imitations.
I adore Scott Thompson, and he’s one of the movie’s stars, though I gotta wonder after reading this review: how much of this movie is about cheap shots and mean-spirited, lame jokes? If you see it, lemme know in the comment section please.
“Another Gay Movie” was directed by Todd Stephens, who wrote the earnest coming-out drama “Edge of Seventeen” in 1998. Genuine sentiment this time is replaced by over-the-top grossness, with the “American Pie” signature gag replaced by a steaming quiche.
I saw Another Gay Movie and found it hilarious. Scott Thompson is a highlight. It’s very much a spoof of teen movies (e.g., American Pie) with a no-holes-barred gay bent to it, Yes, it attacks stereotypes but in a fun (if not totally original) way. The film is unrated and takes advantage of the opportunity to go places conventional films don’t go. So don’t watch this one with your Mom.
